On 4/26/19, I, Bob Bednarz caused a spark inside a gasoline vapor cloud that immediately caused the container to throw flaming gasoline onto my face and left hand, just like a Volcano. I remember thinking, “If you breathe now, you’ll be dead from pulmonary edema in 12 hours.” During all of this, time slowed down and I began to think what my most logical option was. I took off my shirt and used it to put out the fire on my face. My hand was still on fire so as soon as my face was out I used my shirt to put out the flames.
Within minutes I had 911 on the line and was brought to the leading Burn Center in the city of Chicago, Loyola University Medical Center. Ultimately I spent a few days in their burn unit, and my burn surgeon informed me there are no products on the market that could reduce scarring given the severity of my burn- I was sent home with bacitracin.
At the time, I was an organic chemist and my mom was a pharmacist. We dug deep into the literature and specially looked for chemicals found in natural botanicals that could help soothe and remodel the skin. We developed a proprietary synergistic mix of cannabinoids and botanicals including: Black Seed Oil, Blue Chamomile, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Watermelon, Coconut Water and many more.
From my second day at home, I was exclusively using my own homemade cream 3-4x daily on my burn. Any burn like this on your face will be the worst pain of your life no matter what, but I found the cream extremely soothing. I had a complete recovery that I feel can be attributed to the use of my skin remodeling cream consistently for at least 8 weeks after my burn, right during that optimal healing window.
In the several years that followed, we used that cream on any wounds that we’d get and they healed 3x-4x faster than it would normally take. We knew we were onto something and gave the cream out for free whenever someone was injured or burned and it never failed.
But to submit a new drug to the FDA requires $600 million for the application fees alone. I never even thought to market it as a cosmetic, but it had always decreased the appearance of: Scars, Burns, Surgical Incisions, Stretch Marks, Uneven Skin Tone, Wrinkles, Sun-Aged skin, Under Eye Bags, Irritated skin and much more!
I went on to work as a BURN ICU RN from 2021-2022 and PACU RN from 2022-2023 at Loyola University Medical Center- the same top Burn Center I was once a patient in. It was the privilege of a lifetime to work with and help people who had suffered a similar injury.
Next are images of my recovery, day by day. Be warned it is extremely graphic content.
It’s even hard for me to look back, so don’t go forward unless you’re ready.
